Ettore Sottsass (1917-2007) was an Italian architect and designer. After starting his career working as a designer for Olivetti, he went on to found the iconic Italian Memphis design movement with The Memphis Group in 1981. Loved and loathed, this movement was defined by highly energetic and flamboyant design with garish colours and pattern.  His body of work included furniture, lighting, glass, jewelry and office machine design.
