Andre Cordemeijer (1924-1998) was appointed alongside Wim Rietveld as a designer at Gispen in 1956. Together they created armchair No.416, one of the first industrially manufactured plastic chairs in the Netherlands.

Cordemeijer designed office furniture for Gispen from 1956-1976. In 1961 he designed a number of seat units including the No.1431 conference chair and No.1432 armchair with armrests.

As an industrial designer Cordemeijer sought new methods of production and utilized new materials like polyester. He was constantly working on improving existing designs.
